Ubisoft has finally confirmed the highly awaited release of Assassin's Creed Codename Red, which is set to enter the gaming industry by the end of March 2025. This announcement came as part of the publisher's third-quarter sales report for fiscal year 2024, confirming the game's release date within the larger fiscal year 2025 schedule, which runs from April 2024 to March 2025.
Apart from this thrilling announcement, Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will be available on stores by the end of this year. Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's co-founder and CEO, was excited about the company's exciting roster for the upcoming fiscal year 2025.
Guillemot shared,
“Moving forward, we’re gearing up for a very promising line-up for fiscal year 2025, including the upcoming release of Star Wars Outlaws in 2024, which should be a major milestone in the video game industry. This is especially noteworthy given the undeniable appeal of this legendary franchise making its debut in the Open World territory. Additionally, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, set in the long-awaited feudal Japan universe, is poised to be another highlight."
He continued,
"We look forward to revealing the full extent of the creative capabilities of Ubisoft’s teams, who are working hard to ensure these games meet and exceed gamers’ expectations.”
In September 2022, Ubisoft first revealed Assassin's Creed Codename Red as a part of the franchise's future plan, which included six upcoming series entries. Codename Red, the first game in what Ubisoft refers to as "period three" of the Assassin's Creed series, was developed by Ubisoft Quebec, the same team that worked on Odyssey, and is overseen by the same creative director.
Providing insight into the changes in technology and gameplay, series producer Marc-Alexis Cote stated,
“We’re marking a change technologically and gameplay-wise as we’re moving to a fully next-gen – or current gen, I guess we call it – with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. One of the big things that we are pushing is to have a more dynamic world, a world that evolves around you, and we want everything that you have on yourself to evolve as you walk through this environment – to show the wear and tear – and to improve the fidelity of the experiences that we are building, pushing our animation systems further to make the game feel more realistic than ever.”
Cote added,
“Red will be supported for many years with expansions, growth, and a variety of elements that I will not reveal at this time.”
The next chapter in the Assassin's Creed series is much anticipated by the gaming community, as it promises not just a captivating setting of feudal Japan but also innovative gameplay and technological advancements.
