In a recent development, Ubisoft has raised eyebrows by securing domain names that strongly suggest the existence of an undisclosed Might and Magic game.

The vigilant eye of Kurakasis, a user on X platform, caught Ubisoft acquiring the domains mightandmagicfates.com and might-and-magic-fates.com last month.

While no formal confirmation has been made, it is generally believed that these domain registrations match to past discoveries from Ubisoft Shanghai's job postings. The postings said that the Chinese studio was working on a "new Might & Magic AAA game." Notably, one of the offered positions was for a world director, highlighting the need for a candidate with years of experience creating open-world gaming experiences.

The Might & Magic brand has evolved from its inception in 1986 with the release of Might and Magic Book One: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum. Originally created by New World Computing, the series was acquired by 3DO in 1996 before being purchased by Ubisoft for $1.3 million following 3DO's demise in 2003.

Might & Magic X: Legacy, the most recent installment in the numbered series, was released in 2014 for PC and Mac. It interrupted a 12-year drought in mainline Might & Magic games, the longest gap since the franchise's debut, and was published by Ubisoft and developed by Limbic Entertainment.

Might & Magic X earned a Metacritic score of 71 showing the franchise's continued popularity. Ubisoft claims that Might and Magic has produced more than 50 iconic fantasy video games across multiple platforms, including PC, consoles, web games, and, more recently, mobile devices, over the course of three decades. The critically praised turn-based strategy game Heroes of Might & Magic 3, the first-person action title Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, and the revolutionary 1v99 auto-battler Might & Magic: Chess Royale are just a few examples.

As fans wait for official news, domain registrations fuel speculation about a possible return of the beloved Might and Magic franchise.
