Skull & Bones the much anticipated game from Ubisoft Singapore now has an official release date. The game which was revealed during The Game Awards 2023 via a freshly released teaser, is set to hit stores on February 16, 2024. Eager players who want to get an early taste can do so by pre-ordering the Premium edition, which grants them access three days before the official release.
To add to the excitement, a closed beta for Skull & Bones has been scheduled for December 15 to 18, giving chosen players a unique peek of the game before its general release.
Skull & Bones' route to this release date has been filled with difficulties, with the game suffering a series of failures and undergoing a complete reboot in 2020. Originally scheduled for a 2018 release, the game experienced many delays, the most recent being an announcement in January that it will not achieve its expected March 9, 2023 release date. Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Amazon Luna, and PC are among the platforms scheduled for release. The new launch date now corresponds to the publisher's current fiscal year which ends in March 2024.
Despite the game's approaching release Skull & Bones' development challenges continue. The departure of the game's third creative director Elisabeth Pellen, was revealed in a Kotaku post in September. Pellen's resignation was unexpected given her role in reviving the project following its first 2018 release miss. Ubisoft clarified that she had effectively completed her aim to alter Skull & Bones' artistic direction throughout her five-year employment at Ubisoft Singapore. The spokesman expressed confidence in the team's capacity to bring Pellen's vision to reality and provide players with a unique naval action RPG experience.
