Looks like a new Wolfenstein game might be on the way. There are several reports hinting that Wolfenstein 3 is in the works at MachineGames. Even though Bethesda and Xbox haven't officially announced anything yet, insiders say the much-talked-about sequel is happening and could be the final chapter in the studio’s planned trilogy.
These latest rumors popped up on Windows Central as part of its 2026 Xbox predictions and were later supported by Kotaku. According to these sources, MachineGames has been quietly developing the next main Wolfenstein game, but details like gameplay changes, the setting, or when it might come out are still under wraps.
Wolfenstein 3 Nears Completion
MachineGames has always been open about its plans for the modern Wolfenstein series. The studio has talked about The New Order, The New Colossus, and an upcoming third game as a trilogy all about William “B.J.” Blazkowicz.
In September 2025, MachineGames’ creative director Axel Torvenius reaffirmed that the team is still committed to wrapping up B.J.’s story.
“We have always seen this as a trilogy,” Torvenius said in a Noclip documentary. “We mapped out what would happen to B.J. across three games. I hope—and believe—we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. There’s still a story to tell.”
If these new reports are accurate, that long-awaited conclusion may finally be taking shape.
Potential Tie-In With the Wolfenstein TV Series
One of the cool bits from Windows Central’s report is the idea that Wolfenstein 3 might drop around the same time as Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming Wolfenstein TV series, which they announced last year. The show’s still in the early stages, but releasing the game alongside the series could fit into Xbox and Bethesda’s bigger plans.
But if they really are syncing things up, it might mean Wolfenstein 3 won’t be out for a few years. Since there’s no sign of the TV show starting production yet, we might be looking at a release in two to three years.
MachineGames Has More in the Works
It looks like MachineGames isn't just working on Wolfenstein 3. Rumor has it they're also cooking up a multiplayer game, but details are pretty scarce. This probably means the team has grown a lot since their last Wolfenstein game.
Interestingly, the Wolfenstein series has been pretty quiet since 2019, when they released Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the VR game Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot. If they drop a new main game, it would be the first big comeback for the series in almost ten years.
The Wolfenstein games have been around for ages, starting back in 1981. The 1992 release, Wolfenstein 3D, is often seen as a game-changer for first-person shooters in the '90s. MachineGames’ modern take on the series throws players into an alternate world where the Nazis won WWII, mixing intense action with some solid storytelling.
When Will Wolfenstein 3 Be Revealed?
Word on the street is that Wolfenstein 3 might get its big reveal at Xbox’s summer showcase later this year. But until we hear it straight from Bethesda or Xbox, it's all just speculation—though it's starting to sound pretty believable.
