New details about Battlefield 6 Season 2 have come out, giving players a clear idea of what’s coming next. Since Season 1 lasted longer than expected and many fans started losing interest, Season 2 now feels like a big moment for the game.
While EA hasn’t shared much officially, a recent community update and some leaked footage point to major additions. These include new multiplayer maps, fresh vehicles and weapons, and the return of a popular Battlefield 4 map that longtime fans will recognize.
New Maps Coming in Battlefield 6 Season 2
Leaks shared by Reddit user ZamnBoii suggest that Season 2 will bring a brand-new map called Hagental Airbase. From the cinematic teaser, it looks like a map built around heavy vehicle combat, featuring a large airfield, hangars, wide open spaces, and nearby forest areas. Tanks, helicopters, and large-scale battles seem to be at the heart of the action, bringing back that classic Battlefield combined-arms feel.

Alongside Hagental Airbase, EA has officially confirmed another new map called Contaminated. This map will first be tested in Battlefield Labs, EA’s closed testing program for community feedback. According to the developers, Contaminated is medium-sized, sitting between Eastwood and Mirak Valley, and is similar in scale to older Battlefield favorites like St. Quentin Scar from Battlefield 1 and Arras from Battlefield 5.
EA also says the map is designed to closely balance vehicle and infantry combat, with careful focus on cover placement, objectives, and unique gameplay mechanics that will be tested during live matches.
Golmud Railway Returns—With a Twist
One of the biggest highlights from the update is the return of Golmud Railway, the classic map from Battlefield 4. However, EA has made it clear that this won’t be a simple remaster or copy of the original.
Instead, the map is being fully rebuilt to work better with Battlefield 6 systems. EA says the goal is to keep what fans loved about Golmud Railway—its open layout and strong combined-arms combat—while improving map flow, balance, and overall performance for modern hardware.
New Vehicles and Weapons Leaked
Season 2 is also expected to bring new vehicles, including a small helicopter and motorcycles. Earlier leaks suggest the return of the AH-6 Little Bird a fan-favorite helicopter that appeared in pre-launch playtests. Motorcycles are also rumored to arrive as a faster alternative to the game’s existing ATVs.
On the weapons side, three new guns are reportedly joining the arsenal:
MSBS Grot
VHS-2
MG5
While EA hasn’t officially confirmed these weapons yet, they align with previous leaks and internal testing reports.
Can Season 2 Save Battlefield 6?
Battlefield 6 launched with a lot of excitement, but that momentum didn’t last long. By mid-January, the game’s Steam player count had dropped by almost 90% from its peak, as many players grew frustrated with the slow flow of new content and moved on to newer shooters like ARC Raiders.
In response to community feedback, EA pushed Season 2 launch to February 17, giving the development team more time to polish upcoming content. While improvements have been made to performance, progression, and overall balance, the game is still struggling to hold onto players.
Now, all eyes are on Season 2. It remains to be seen whether the new maps, vehicles, and returning classic content will be enough to bring players back. If Battlefield 6 can recapture its signature large-scale battles and deliver consistent updates, Season 2 could become a much-needed turning point for the series.
