Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is finally coming to PC this week, and Hideo Kojima says it's not just a port. The upcoming release includes a variety of technical upgrades and new content, many of which will also be available on PlayStation 5.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach PC Version Arrives With Performance Boosts
The PC version of Death Stranding 2 will be released on March 19, and it is designed to take advantage of modern hardware. Players can expect unlocked frame rates, ultra-wide monitor support, and improved visuals with ray tracing, as well as smoother performance through upscaling and frame generation.
There’s also full support for the DualSense wireless controller, bringing adaptive triggers and haptic feedback to PC players who want a console like feel.
New Features Also Coming to PS5
Kojima confirmed during a recent radio interview that these improvements will not be limited to PC. The PS5 version will also receive a major update, bringing new gameplay features and content to enhance the experience.
This update features a brand-new difficulty mode called "To the Wilder."
“To the Wilder” Mode Pushes Players Harder

This new mode is geared toward players seeking a serious challenge. Deliveries become far more dangerous, with harsher environments and more powerful enemies forcing players to think strategically about every move.
It's designed to put even the most experienced porters to the test, with a more intense and rewarding version of the core gameplay loop.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach New Story Content and Cutscenes
Kojima also revealed that previously cut live-action sequences will be incorporated into the game. These scenes were previously removed due to technical limitations, but they are now being restored.
Along with that, players can expect additional story moments, such as new "nightmares" for Sam, which will add depth and mystery to the narrative.
More Gameplay Additions and Extras
The update does not end there. Players on the PC and PS5 will see:
Replayable boss battles, including encounters with Neil.
A new VR training mode titled "Trapped in a Strange Realm"
Extra items and unlocked gear
Expanded Photo Mode Options
A unique new addition: a Chiral Cat appears in Sam's private room.
The PS5 even supports a 21:9 ultrawide display mode, which is a rare feature for console players.
With performance improvements, new content, and more difficult challenges, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is shaping up to feel more like an expanded edition than a standard PC release.
