After five years of hard effort Hello Games the development team behind No Man's Sky has revealed their latest project, Light No Fire. Light No Fire departs from No Man's Sky's huge open world and sci-fi background to include a compelling fantasy concept.
Hello Games creator Sean Murray spoke about the new Work at The Game Awards, saying,
"What people don't know is that for the past five years, we've been working on something new—something very different, something perhaps even more ambitious."
Light No Fire takes on the issue of creating an Earth-like environment whereas No Man's Sky presented players with a sprawling world of strange planets. Murray expounded on the game's ambition stressing the team's desire to create a world with more diversity than Earth. He imagined a world with real mountains not just in-game reproductions but towering peaks taller than Everest. Climbing these massive buildings will reward gamers with panoramic views of rivers, gorges, continents, and oceans.
Murray highlighted the team's commitment to enable players to explore this huge area together describing Light No Fire as the "first real open world" without limits. He emphasised the project's excitement and fear, stressing the team's willingness to produce a game that goes beyond traditional limitations.
"We're both nervous and excited." If people like it, this is a game I'd like to be updating in 10 years," Murray said, suggesting the team's long-term commitment to growing and improving the Light No Fire experience based on player input and evolving technology.
