The renowned Jean-Claude Van Damme is featured in an exciting new Mortal Kombat 1 promo released by Warner Bros. Games.
By purchasing the game's Premium Edition, players can access Van Damme as a unique alternate skin for Johnny Cage in this exciting feature.
The debut of this teaser follows the first appearance of Van Damme in an interview with Ed Boon, one of the Mortal Kombat series' co-creators, on First We Feast's Hot Ones.
The inclusion of Van Damme in the game was a dream that had been in the works for 30 years, according to Boon, who said, "When we first started working on Mortal Kombat, our original intention was to create 'Van Damme: The Arcade Game.'" Due to his involvement in films like Bloodsport and Universal Soldier, Jean-Claude Van Damme was a well-known action star at the time.
So we contacted his team with the notion of creating a game based on Van Damme's legendary persona, Boon continued. I regret that it didn't work out, but I can see why. I can understand why Van Damme might have been hesitant because we were just two eager 20-somethings with huge hopes of making a video game.
"Over the years, we made a number of attempts to make it happen, and this time, we finally hit the jackpot," he continued. We were able to acquire his participation, and now the game features both his voice and likeness. A full circle moment that we had always imagined will be created when he brings the Johnny Cage figure to life.
Along with the thrilling news regarding Jean-Claude Van Damme's involvement, Megan Fox will also participate in Mortal Kombat 1, giving the character Nitara both her voice and face.
On September 19, 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 will be released for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, as well as PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. When the game is released later this year, get ready for an epic clash with these recognisable characters.
