Ubisoft is finally revealing one of gaming's most talked-about secrets: the remake of Assassin's Creed Black Flag. After months of leaks and speculation, the official reveal is scheduled for April 23.

The company confirmed that the upcoming project, known as Black Flag Resynced, will be featured in a global livestream. The event will be broadcast live on Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed's official YouTube channels at 9 a.m. PDT, 6 p.m. CEST, and 9:30 p.m. IST.

For months, the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been one of gaming's biggest secrets. Even though Ubisoft did not confirm it for a long time, constant leaks and insider reports indicated that a modern version of the pirate adventure was in the works. The company later hinted at the rumors, teasing fans with comments like "some whispers have more wind in their sails" and advising them to "keep their spyglass on the horizon."

Black Flag which was released in 2013, remains one of the series' most popular games. It follows Edward Kenway, a pirate who travels the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy in search of riches and freedom. The story also ties in with the franchise's long-running Assassin-Templar conflict.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Updates

According to reports, the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake, known as Resynced, will include more than just a visual upgrade. It is expected to include updated gameplay systems, new content, and changes to certain parts of the story to make it more modern.

One of the most heavily rumored changes is to the modern-day storyline set within Abstergo Entertainment. Some key scenes from the original may be altered or reworked, so fans are curious about what will remain the same. There are also hints that the story of pirate character Mary Read may be expanded in this new edition.

The announcement of the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced aligns with a renewed interest in pirate games. New titles such as Windrose have also seen strong early sales, and many believe Ubisoft's timing will bring more attention back to naval adventure games.

Ubisoft has yet to confirm an official release date, but some reports suggest the game will arrive in mid-2026, with July 9 mentioned in leaks. Fans will have to wait until the April 23 showcase, which should clarify what is confirmed and what is just rumor.
