A new pirate adventure is about to drop anchor. Windrose, the co-op survival game originally known as Crosswind, will enter Early Access on April 14, 2026, according to developer Windrose Crew.
The announcement came at the Triple-I Initiative Showcase, where a new trailer provided a closer look at the game's naval combat, exploration, and survival mechanics. After weeks of building, and developers asking with fans for more time Windrose is now just days away from release.
Windrose is set in a different version of the Age of Piracy, and you play as a fully customizable pirate. You'll explore a dangerous world that is constantly changing, sailing between islands, building up your own bases, and fighting enemies on land and at sea.
When Early Access launches, players will be able to explore three distinct biomes filled with quests, hidden treasure, and tough enemies. You can play alone or with friends in co-op, which can help you overcome more difficult challenges. Combat is based on timing and strategy, and you can improve your character over time by unlocking new skills, gear, and upgrades that match your playstyle.
Windrose Ships, Crews, and Customization
Beyond combat, Windrose prioritizes player freedom and customization, allowing them to recruit crew members, upgrade their ships, and construct strongholds on islands. Naval battles include cannon battles and boarding actions, combining traditional pirate action with modern survival gameplay. Exploration is also important, with a mix of randomly generated areas and handcrafted dungeons that make each adventure feel unique and challenging.
Windrose Pricing and Launch Timing

Windrose will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Stove beginning April 14 at 8 a.m. UTC. The base game costs $29.99, with a $39.99 Supporter Bundle that includes bonus content such as a soundtrack and sea shanties performed by Seán Dagher.
